Website Takeovers for Orphaned Sites

Did Your Indianapolis Web Design Agency Close, Sell, or Disappear?

Agencies come and go. Your website shouldn’t go with them. We take over websites left behind by agencies that closed, were acquired, or stopped answering, get you back in control of your accounts, and keep your site running without losing the traffic you have built. We have been doing this in Indianapolis since 2011.

Signs Your Website Has Been Orphaned

Most business owners don’t find out their agency is gone until something breaks. If any of these sound familiar, your website may not have anyone looking after it:

  • Emails to your old agency bounce, or nobody replies.
  • Invoices or renewal notices now come from a company you have never heard of.
  • You don’t have the logins for your website, hosting, or domain.
  • WordPress shows a long list of updates nobody has run.
  • Your domain or Google accounts are registered under the agency’s name, not yours.
  • The person who built your site has moved on, and the new team doesn’t know it.

None of this means your site is in trouble yet. It does mean nobody is watching for the security update, expired domain, or broken form that will cause trouble later.

You Don’t Have to Start Over

Most orphaned websites don’t need a redesign. They need someone to take ownership: recover access, back everything up, run the overdue updates, and keep it healthy from here.

We will tell you honestly whether your site is worth keeping. If it is, we keep it. If it isn’t, we will explain why before you spend a dollar.

What Happened to These Indianapolis Agencies

Several well-known Indianapolis web design and marketing agencies have closed or been acquired by out-of-state companies. Some teams continue under new names, and many of their former clients are well cared for. If you are happy, stay. If you have lost touch with the people who built your site, we can help.

Websites Built by Well Done Marketing

Well Done Marketing closed in 2025 after 20 years in Indianapolis, wrapping up client projects before shutting down. If they built or managed your website, you likely need a new team for updates, hosting, and support.

Websites Built by Roundpeg

Roundpeg became part of Deksia, a Grand Rapids, Michigan agency, in February 2021, and roundpeg.biz now redirects to Deksia’s website. If you worked with the original Roundpeg team and want a local Indianapolis-area partner again, we would be glad to talk.

Websites Built by Bitwise Solutions

Bitwise Solutions, one of central Indiana’s oldest web developers, was acquired by SilverTech of New Hampshire in 2018, and bitwisesolutions.com now redirects to SilverTech. If your site still runs on a Bitwise build, we can review it and help you decide what comes next.

Websites Built by SpinWeb

SpinWeb, an Indianapolis digital agency founded in 1996, was acquired by Mojo Media Labs, a national marketing agency, in late 2018, and Mojo’s own website now redirects to Gravity Global. Many SpinWeb-era websites are now old enough to need a careful update or a rebuild.

Websites Built by MaryDesigns

As of October 2026, the marydesigns.com domain is listed for sale. MaryDesigns also offered hosting, so if your website or email was hosted there, check that your site, domain, and email are still in your control, and reach out if you need help moving them.

Agency details are based on public news reports and company websites as of October 2026. If anything here is out of date, let us know and we will correct it.

Step One: Get Control of Your Accounts

Whether you hire us or not, make sure your business owns these four things. If you can’t get into one of them, we can help you work through the recovery process.

Your Domain

Find out where your domain is registered and whose name is on it. This is the single most important thing to own. If it expires, your website and email go down.

Hosting

Know who hosts your site and who pays the bill. If the agency hosted it, ask for a full backup and plan a move before anything lapses.

WordPress Admin

Make sure you have an administrator login of your own, not just an editor account the agency set up for you.

Google Accounts

Google Analytics, Search Console, and your Google Business Profile should be owned by your company, with the agency added as a user, not the other way around.

Three Ways We Can Help

Keep It Running

Your site works, but nobody maintains it. Our maintenance plan covers WordPress and plugin updates, uptime monitoring every 5 minutes, and an hour of web work each month for $230/month, with a three-month minimum. If you move your hosting to us while on the plan, we waive the normal $500 migration fee.

Fix What’s Broken

Your site is outdated, slow, or partly broken. We review what you have, run the overdue updates safely, repair what we can, and tell you plainly what is worth fixing and what isn’t.

Start Fresh

Your site has outlived its usefulness. We build a new custom WordPress site you fully own, keep your important pages and URLs so you don’t lose search traffic, and launch it cleanly. Custom websites start at $7,500. See how our process works.

How a Website Takeover Works

  1. Quick call. A 10 to 15 minute call about what you have, what you know about your accounts, and what you need.
  2. Access and backup. We help you gather or recover your logins, then make a complete backup before touching anything.
  3. Health check. We review security, plugins, theme, hosting, and forms, and send you a plain-English summary of what we found.
  4. Stabilize. We run the overdue updates, fix urgent problems, and move hosting if it makes sense, keeping your URLs intact.
  5. Ongoing care. From there, you have a local team that answers. Most messages get a reply the same business day, and often within the hour.

Website Takeover Questions

Usually, yes. If your business owns the domain, we can work through recovery with your registrar and host, and WordPress access can be restored from the hosting account. It takes longer when the domain is registered in someone else’s name, so start there. We only help recover access for the business that owns the site.

Not if the move is done carefully. We keep your existing pages and URLs wherever possible, set up 301 redirects for anything that changes, and check Search Console after the switch. Rankings depend on many things, so no one can promise them, but a careful takeover should not cost you traffic.

No. If your site still works and serves your business, we will maintain it as is. We only recommend a rebuild when keeping the old site would cost you more than replacing it.

Some agencies use proprietary systems that only they can run. If that is your situation, we will look at what can be moved and tell you honestly if a rebuild is the better path. Either way, your content, images, and URLs can usually come with you.

Most takeovers start with our maintenance plan at $230/month (nonprofits pay $200/month), with a three-month minimum. Hosting migration is normally $500 and is waived for plan members. If you need a new site, custom websites start at $7,500. We will give you a firm price after a quick call.

Just make sure your business owns its domain, hosting account, WordPress admin login, and Google accounts. That protects you no matter what happens to any agency, including us.
